As a child I grew up in Chicago and attended the Catholic church with my family and attended the Catholic school. I was the 2nd of 4. I remember my parents taking time to talk to us about who God was and what Jesus did on the cross. Through the Catholic church I went through the process of
communion and confirmation.

At age eight, Our family moved out to Schaumburg , IL (a suburb of Chicago), and I
started attending the public schools. I still attended the Catholic church and went to
the Catocism classes regularly.

My dad always had a Love for music. He always bought records of all bands and would listen
to them. He would listen to Led Zepplin, Doobie Brothers, Cream, etc.. Yes he liked that good ol classic rock. He loved all styles. I enjoyed listening to them as well.

At age ten, I started playing the Clarinet through the school. I would listen to my Mom and
Dad's Jazz records of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmey Dorsey, etc. I developed a Love for
Jazz music on the Clarinet. In high school the music teacher strongly persuaded me to take
up sax because of my strong jazz background. That's when I started playing the sax. I played sax
and clarinet throughout college as well.

In 1983, I felt the catholic church wasn't reaching me so I started searching. During that time,
I was hanging out with a group a very talented musicians. As I became good friends with them, they introduced me to Buddahism. Again, I was searching at this time. After many curious questions, I decided to see what this was all about. So for the next year, I attended their meetings and particpated in the practices.Even though I was on this new adventure, I still never stopped praying to God. The people were very nice and pleasant but they did not believe in God or Jesus. This really bothered me because I knew God is real.

It was at about that time, a friend at work invited me to check out Willow Creek Community Church. I still remember that experience. It had such an impact on me. The music was the first thing that hit me. I couldn'tbelieve that this cool rock'n music can be played in church. I even remember Bill Hybels message that day entitled "The Banana Room". I walked out with a WOW experience but I still was skeptical and wanted to be sure about this place before jumping in too quick. I attended Willow Creek off and on for about a year as well as Catholic church. After I was convinced that Willow was the place I wanted to be, I contacted the music department and talked with Rory (music director), and told him I played sax. He asked me to come in for an audition. After the audition,
we had a nice conversation. Along with other interests, he asked me about my faith. He then welcomed me to the team. I was very excited to know that I was able to use my musical gifts for God and be able to play some cool music.

About two years later, I was baptized as an adult at Willow Creek Community Church. I spent 10 wonderful years at Willow Creek before comming to KC. Through that experience, I have a passion to minister using my sax.

I thank God daily for the talents he's given to me and the places he allows me to use them.
