One Life
I haven't blogged in a while but this was really on my heart.
The song "One Life To Love" by 33 miles has really hit home lately. It's all about making the most out of the life that we have been given.
Two weeks ago on my mail route one of my customers, a healthy 39 year old Mom, dropped dead while on the treadmill from a fluke blood clot or something. The next week from 5 houses down a customer lost her Mom when she was shot in the Binghamton tragic shooting spree. People were telling me about how things go in three's. Last week an elderly widow hadn't gotten her mail out of her box for a few days. I was going to tell the neighbors but I put it off. The next day it was worse so I did tell the neighbor they better call 911 or something. Today the neighbor informed me that I saved her life because she had fallen down the stairs and was all aone for days in the basement. I actually have ben feling terrible because I should have said something the day before. I have been trying to call the hospitals and stuff but I don't know what is going on now. Maybe the contacted a relative and she is there now.
The point is that we all don't know the hour that we are called to leave this earth. I heard an interview with a guy that used to be in the group Cross Movement who's latest CD is called "The Dash". He was saying on tombs and stuff it will have 1934-2005, but the most important part is the dash..how we lived our life and who we have influenced. Have we done it to inspire others to find the Lord? Are we just concerned with our own possesions and not things of eternal importance? My brother has cancer and it scares me that he is agnostic. He may recover from the cancer but what will that get him when it is his time?
I urge you to get your affairs with the Lord in order, you never know when it will be your last day. Hug your kids a little harder and tell your loved ones how special they are to you..now!
