I was on a boat!
Dana and I just celebrated our 10th year of marital bliss. In fact, TODAY is our anniversary. I’m writing this blog from a hotel room in fabulous New Orleans, LA., where we’ve both found some of the weight we’d lost before this trip.
Our cruise was really great. Dana and I had a terrific time in both our port stops… Progresso, MX and Cozumel, MX. We figured out that we really like to sit by the beach and talk, and then wade out into the ocean and talk some more. We don’t love…

Hey guys, I'm finally back! (for now)
I wanted to share with you a link to a project that I believe is crucial for the United States in the time we are living in. If you saw the picture (my attempt at a political cartoon) that I posted right before election night, I'm sure you've figured out that I was not one bit happy when President Barack Obama won the presidency. At times, I have honestly been freaked out by hearing of his new executive orders and polices that go so far away from what I beli…

In a few days President Elect Barak Obama will be inaugurated the 44th President of these United States. I’ve been thinking about how in one day he will suddenly wield tremendous power and influence. I on the other hand feel pretty helpless to effect change in our nation. What can one man do?
The truth is the only difference between the President’s power and mine is his sphere of influence. And isn’t it clear in scripture that it’s God who determines our sphere of influence?
So I’ve decided on…

I don't often share 'prayer requests' but for some reason I'm moved in my heart to share this one. Please click this link. Michael Sweet (lead singer of Stryper) shares a wonderful testimony about his wife, Kyle, and he asks for prayers as she battles ovarian cancer. The…

Dear God of all comforts,
You are the Lord who said, " I am He who comforts you". You are the comfort unto us. You are the Lord who comforts all who mourn. We look to you for mercy. We pray for those who are grief stricken and pain gripped. Have mercy on them. Restore comfort unto them. We pray for those who have lost their dear ones. Comfort them as the mother comforts her child. Wipe away the tears from their eyes and gladden their hearts. You are the father unto them. They are helpless witho…

Have you ever just felt "out of sorts" - perhaps angry, upset, bothered, depressed, discouraged - just not yourself? I've had one of those days today. When you have a day like that, doesn't it seem the silliest and pettiest things can just throw you right off the edge?
For me, the last straw today was a dentist bill. Not just any dentist bill. But one that they keep sending to me over and over - even though I keep telling them I've already paid it. Weeks ago I even faxed over the receipt as pro…

Hey everyone..it's not looking good for my brother Dean. Things were OK at my house on Christmas but last night he could no longer urinate and had to have emercency surgery to get a tube put in today. His cancer is a rare type that is fast moving...the same type that Peter jennings had. They scheduled chemo but realistically might only have a few months left. pray that he quickly gets things right with the Lord! Thanks...Jimbo

About a month ago, my dad (a pastor) mentioned something in church about how difficult it is for pastors when they see other churches growing and thriving and on fire for the Lord, while the people of his own church remained so stagnant and lukewarm. (That was a very thinly veiled hint to our congregation... I wonder if anyone else caught it....) Later that evening, I admitted to my dad that I often feel the same way as a worship leader, when I attend other worship services and see people singin…

hey guys..those who have been praying for Dean I have some good news. His cancer is at stage 2 right now but it doesn't look like it has spread from the bladder..so when they remove it in a few weeks maybe he can survive this. It will be a tough adjustment for him but he's in better spirits. Thanks and keep him in your prayers!
In good news..my cats singing video won the whacky contest! Thanks for all those who rated it and viewed it..it had over 170 views so far..of course about 30 of those vi…

I just tried to send a message to everyone but if you have over 100 friends it won't let you..that's stinks.
My brother Dean just found out he has bladder cancer. The doctor wants to operate right away but we don't know how serious it is long term wise. He's 56 and always been…

Hear Your Voice Verse 1: When my father speaks to me I hear his words,
I know his voice
I never doubt who it is
Lord, You're my Heavenly Father
You love me more than my earthly father ever could
So why, God oh why
Can I not hear Your voice?
Why, why can't I know when it's You?
I can't even tell Your voice from my own
Verse 2: When my friends speak to me
I hear their voice,
I listen to their hurts,
And I listen to their joys
Lord, You're my Heavenly Father,
And You're my greatest Fr…

Well, well, well. It's amazing how since, after that trip I talked about in the last post, I prayed for God to give me more opportunities to witness, He's just been dumping them in my lap. I don't mean that in a sarcastic way, this is so exciting! Oh, yeah, in case you haven't noticed, I think I'm ending up doing a little miniseries on witnessing within this theme songs blog series.
So to start with, He used that very same Left Behind audiobook all over again. My mom and I had taken a walk arou…

Last week I had a swim meet several hours driving distance away from my home. The infamous skyrocketing gas prices encouraged us to carpool, so my mom and younger sister, Joset, and I rode with Joset's friend Brittney and her mom. Two other girls from my team, Kim and Megan also rode with us. Before leaving, I prayed that I would have a chance to witness to the people I was riding with. (Megan is Mormon, Britt and her mom are what they call "Jack-Mormon"... i.e. they consider themselves to be Mo…
