here are my takes from the discussion group: OK..the first week of the finals turned out to be pretty good. Finals set for Idol

Quick summary of tonight..I was really happy! I wanted Megan and Jasmine of the girls. I wanted Matt or Ricky of the boys, but figuring that only one guy would make it and it would be Anoop, I didn't have my hopes up. But then they picked Matt! Thoughts on Idol results show and wild card picks.

Thoughts on the results show as it goes on live... They do Katy Perry's Hot and cold for group song..it's going to be hard to do these dance and sing numbers all year if Scott is on the show. It was well done tonight. I'm glad they are going to announce the wild card selections at the end of the show..this means the judges must know who is going through tonight before Ryan says who it is. First night of top 36 singers.

here is what I wrote live in the discussion group in the Idol group discussions. OK..this years format is really going to make you stand out the first time you perform..or it will be your only shot. If if it was this way last year David cook probably wouldn't have made it to top 12..as he was just middle of the pack average until he did "Hello" 4 or 5 weeks into the show. here is the wrap up of everything I wrote today in the Idol discussions..the first part was a live blog then the rest is a summary. first batch..Anoop going through was a no brainer. Idol auditions in Louisville

after last nights stinker of a show in San Fran..the ttalent was much more abundant in Louisville tonight. The first good one was Joanna Pacitti. She had a record deal a few years ago with A & M. I usually prefer singers who haven't been "discovered " yet. Last year there was abunch that had deals but at least they were upfront with Joanna. San Francisco auditions on Idol

Wasn't much of a show tonight as they spent 4 minutes each on a bunch of people that weren't that good.When it's only an hour show that doesn't leave much time for showing talent. The two at the end were good, Adam Lambert and Kai, the guy who takes care of his sick mom. The best part of the show was playing "I Can Only Imagine" after Kai got through. idol auditions in K.C.

tonight they auditioned in david cook's hometown of Kansas City. I'm not going to do a huge rundown but the talent was really good tonight..and lots of good stories. There was Danny Gokey, who's wife died 4 weeks earlier, to Lil Rounds, who's house was ruined my a tornado, taking her husband and 3 young kids out of their house. They were both awesome.
