Biography
"Lord, we need You now" - the words of a prayer written by Steve Garrioch.
Contemporary Christian musician Steve Garrioch began his career writing songs as a teenager and continued songwriting well into his university years. After several appearances as a former member of Riverwalk, Steve began writing material for his debut independent album, "Real Life Living" set to be completed by Spring 2009.
His performances have taken him to venues in Canada and the US and also into Nicaragua as part of the 2008 ADRA Canada/Canadian University College youth initiatives program.
Although over the last year he has kept a low profile in terms of performances and songwriting, he plans to make 2009 a year to remember musically and in his personal life:
"2009 is going to be a huge year for me - I'm graduating from university and moving on to new phases in my life", he says, "but one thing remains the same - God has provided for me and has given me a lot of inspiration through my life as a university student and 'Real Life Living' is going to be a perfect way for me to share how God has worked through me and through the lives of the people around me."
His debut song, "Clarity", set to debut in January 2009 examines his search for something more in a world where lines are blurred: "I'm searching for clarity / In a world that's taking over me / Looking to trust in things unseen / That You placed right in front of me / Searching for truth / And how to live my life in You"
"It's such a personal song and it's the first song that I've written that I've recorded," Steve remarks. "I was going through a phase in my life where things were so unclear. At the time, I'd recently been re-baptized but I noticed that the temptations offered by life were coming at me and, at that time, I just wanted to be sure that the feelings in my heart and the thoughts in my head were those of what God would want me to have."
"Real Life Living" examines the reality of life - from the struggles to the joy one experiences once they've met with God.
"I don't expect to reach to everyone but I do hope that I've touched the heart of at least one person," he says. "Not everyone goes through exactly the same thing at exactly the same time but one thing is certain, God isn't going anywhere and if only one person is brought to that realization, then I've done everything that I've ever wanted to do."
