The Christian rock band PAR~A~DIGM rose to the status as one of Christian music's up and coming distinguished alternative rock bands, with their release of their first album, “Paralyzed,” in 2009.
The founding member of PAR~A~DIGM—singer/songwriter/guitarist Reggie Fobbs— was asked to write a rock song for a rock video student in film school. Reggie got together with Allen Fobbs and wrote their first song, “I’m Waiting,” and filmed their first music video (I’m Waiting) which was officially accepted at three Hollywood Film Festivals, for best music video, in 2006.
The group was originally acoustic and performed in church services and for youth groups. Reggie contacted Robert, Allen and Andre after a few weeks; to convince them to help create a Christian Rock band; meeting four times a week, the band gathered to practice singing and playing instruments in their garage. The band called themselves PAR~A~DIGM, to reflect their commitment to Christianity. "We have gone through times when we wanted to change the name," Allen admitted,” but we realized it was the right kind of name that describes us best." A year later keyboardist Suzzi Fobbs took up bass guitar and joins the group.
PAR~A~DIGM is known for their wild, high-energy live-show performances and high-energy production numbers, they are an example of a unique musical phenomenon. Having faith in their potential for reaching an even wider secular cross-over audience they have managed to break into the cross-over audience of secular pop and rock music. "There were a lot of challenges going into this genre, but I think it will make us even stronger and more creative, said “Reggie.” We feel we have the opportunity to reach a world that is way beyond where most contemporary Christian artists are capable of reaching."
The five members group desires to create music that supports their vision, which is to bridge the gap across races and across denominations. PAR~A~DIGM is learning how this industry works, although some critics feels the group relies too much on lyrical religious clichés. Undaunted by such attacks, they are dedicated to producing Christian rock as they forged ahead in what they believed to be a mission.
