Shades of Morning ... DONE!
Hi Friends,Just doing the happy dance here because my next "Love Stories with a Twist!" was due in to the publisher today and I just sent it in via email. Whoo Hoo! The title so far is "Shades of Morning," and it due to hit the shelves next May. Hi Friends! I'm an author, and next, I’m writing 3 contemporary novels for Waterbrook-Multnomah, a division of Random House. All of them are “Love Stories with a Twist!,” a new type of story that I think will knock readers’ socks off.
The first, Beyond the Night, released in June. With groovy 70’s trivia and a whopper of an ending twist, this one was as fun to write as it will be to read. Here’s a blurb about it:

- Marlo Schalesky is the award winning author of six books, including her latest novel BEYOND THE NIGHT (released June 2008), which is the first of her new LOVE STORIES WITH A TWIST (think Nicolas Sparks with a M. Night Shymalan twist!).
Marlo has also had over 600 articles published in various magazines, had her work included in compilations such as Dr. Dobson’s Night Light Devotional for Couples, and is a regular columnist for Power for Living. Marlo recently earned her Masters degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and is currently working on two more contemporary novels for Multnomah-Waterbrook Publishers, a division of Random House. She lives in Salinas, California with her husband and four daughters.
Marlo grew up in the Catholic church, but it wasn’t until her first year of college at Stanford University that God really grabbed her heart and overwhelmed her with His love. She fell in love with Jesus and found her whole life re-orienting around His truth. Later, through the painful experience of infertility (see www.marloschalesky.com for information on her nonfiction book on infertility) and multiple miscarriages, Marlo found her faith both challenged and deepened. These days, she’s hanging onto the truth of God’s love through all the firestorms of life, and encouraging others to do the same.

Worshipping When You Can't Stand the Style
Hi Friends,
We had our community group here at our house last night, and we were talking about Philippians 2:1-11, particularly about considering others, esteeming others, and following Christ's example of having an "others-first" mindset. Then, the discussion moved to worshipping God and music styles. I was reminded of something that happened at a previous church and how it taught me that I needed to look beyond music style to focus on God in worship, not on myself and my preferences.

Parking Lot Prayers
Hi Friends,
I've been thinking a lot about prayer lately, especially as I've been hollering out to God for help and mercy during the especially-awful periods of kidney-stone pain. And to tell you the truth, screaming prayers for relief didn't seem to be answered as I would have liked. The pain kept on, often getting much worse before cycling back to bearable.
So, as I've been thinking about help-prayers, and desperation-prayers, and convenience-prayers, I'm reminded of something that happened… Continue

Falling Apart
Hi Friends,
Well, I'm still hurting from my probable kidney stone incident on Sunday. Tomorrow I have a doc appointment, so we'll see if more is going on than just the kidney stone or what. So, I've spent this week so far trying to manage pain and figure out how to get by. I've not written the article that's due on Monday, not written my book that's due April 1, not worked on business taxes that are due at month's end, not put away Christmas decorations, not cleaned out my files for 2008 ... no… Continue
