- About Me
- It’s a simple tale, really. An age old tale. It’s a yarn about five guys from deep in the heart of ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ who shared the same dream. That dream, to amass the most sizable collection of Liberace memorabilia in the world. When that fell through, they opted for music. Thus, Lessmyself was born. Drawing from their diverse musical backgrounds, Josh “Coop” Cooper (bass, harmonica), Mike “Tiger” Edmonds (lead vocals), Reid “Canopy” McNellage (guitars), Robert “The Doctor” Murray (drums), and David “Godfather” Trippe (guitars, bgv) dabbled in everything from polka to ska to a neo-modernistic psycho-billy crunk. Finally, they settled on more of a classic Southern Rock sound. In the spirit of the great poets of old, Lessmyself set out to write songs with lyrics that actually meant something. Having lived through travesties of lyrical construction like “Achy Breaky Heart” and “MMM Bop”, they made a point of penning lyrics that were not only understandable but thought provoking as well. After stirring in a healthy dose of Christian Worldview, they found themselves with a new school of musical thought. They proudly dubbed it “A thinking man’s Southern Rock with flashes of the ETERNAL”

Insight: "ember"
We went with a different approach. We pulled a single word out of one of the songs. That word was “ember” and it was pulled from the line “when the glow fades on my final ember” from the first track on the CD, “The Burn”.

Insight: Lessmyself
What’s in a name? A lot for a band.
Coming up with that just right band name can be the easiest and hardest thing to do.
Let me give you the history of our name, Lessmyself, as an example.
Now, every musician has been in more bands than they are willing to admit.

Update 12-30
Mike here with the final update of ’08.
This has been a busy year for us. We began a worldwide press campaign with Mindsweep Entertainment. We recorded and released “ember”. We had several songs played on both terrestrial and internet radio. And we’ve gotten to meet some really cool folks along the way.
