I am a husband, father of three. We attend church regularly, attend the Wednesday night Bible Study, organize the Young Couple's Ministry with another couple, and attempt to live Godly so that our children will grow in Christ better than my wife or I did. I have been in prayer because God has put on my heart to go to school to learn to teach the Bible. I have always felt that I might be a good teacher, but never wanted to teach children. So, as I am unsure of which path to take, I seek God. Proverbs....

My earliest memories of school are from when i attended Trinity Lutheran School in Port Huron, MI. I was a student from Kindergarten until fifth grade when our family moved. Throughout junior high and high school, church was not important to me; I didn't attend nor did I feel that church had the answers. Upon my high school commencement, I left for Boot camp with the US Air Force. I bought my first Bible while there, an NLT. It made a great mantle piece after I left Basic Training. While stationed at Kadena AB, Japan, I found interest in Buddhism. I took much time to study and immerse myself in this sacred region's religion. Although Buddhism is peaceful and the doctrines represent sound moral examples, I was still lost. Shortly after the birth of my son, my then fiance' suggested that we attend church so that our boys could grow up knowing that God loved them and that they wouldn't be alone. I politely informed her that I felt as though a church "would burn down as soon as I set foot inside the building." We attended a few services with some different churches and finally found our home at Griswold Street Baptist Church. That was three years ago. Today we are one of two "leader" couples for the church's Young Couple's Ministry. God also is glorifying himself through me by beginning a Men's Ministry in which I will be the facilitator. Praise God for his grace and mercy even though we don't deserve his salvation, nor love.

The most embarrassing thing I ever did was:
get too drunk to remember.
I believe...
God gave us a gift and a partner who's gift supplements our own.

Hey David, welcome to the site and hello from another Michigander. I attended GSBC for some time in 2001. I think the leadership has changed since then. It was a good church. Glad you found a church that you like. Have a blessed weekend.
