Hello. Merry Christmas and happy new year. Ive had some questions about 1 Corinthians 11 among other things for awhile now. And i was wondering if you Women of Faith could help me out. What are your thoughts about it? What do you think Paul is telling us? Does it still apply to us Women of Faith now? What is your interpretation of it? Let me know. Id really like to hear from you. Some few verses have been on my mind alot "Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a wife to pray to God with her head uncovered?" 1 Corinthians 11:13

I personally think that it is just what it says. Paul is telling us that women should wear a covering on their head. I think it is for two reasons.

1. It is a symbol that we are in line with the headship order that God has placed in society. (God-Jesus-Man-Woman)
2. I believe our hair is our "power and glory" and thus should be seen and enjoyed only by our husbands. It also shows our submission to our husband.

Many argue about this issue and you are likely to get many different answers. I have personally been convicted in my heart that it is proper for me to wear a cover and also to dress modestly. Therefor, I only wear dresses and always have some type of covering on my head. Also, I do not cut my hair, nor do I cut my daughters hair.

There are quite a few articles on this subject if you take the time to look. But I would read the scripture for yourself and pray. If God is talking to you that you should cover, do it. Not to obey would be sin. I do not believe that Paul was only talking to the Corinthian people on this subject because a lot of our other Christian beliefs and doctrines come from this same letter. I don't think we should just throw one away because we do not like it. We would have to throw out all the other things that Paul talks about in this letter too.

This is my opinion, since you asked. God bless!

i use to know this and i dont remember it know, but they are some religions or rather associations that do believe that women should cover their heads, but in the churches i was raised all people removed their hats in church and during prayer to show respect. also another link to help is blb.com

i read that it was the men who only removed thier hats in church because it says in the Bible "Everyman who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as if her head was shaven." (1 Corinthians 11:4) hey, thank you both for puttin in your 2 cents ;) very much appreciated :)

I agree with that. Men take their hats off in church and in prayer. You are welcome for the comment. I hope you find the answer you are looking for.
