OK, I'll start the first discussion. Nobody can argue that Tobymac has made considerable contributions to CCM and has pushed the envelope in making hip hop/urban music an accepted genre in Christian Music. This discussion forum is for posting your thoughts as to when Toby made his greatest contributions: As a member of DC Talk or after he became a solo artist?

Personally for me, this is a no brainer, because it was a song by DC Talk that drew me back to the Lord when I was back-sliden. I desire one day to thank the guys personally, and I will either here or in heaven. So for me, Toby's greatest accomplishment was when he was with DC Talk, because it brought me back to the Lord and helped save my soul from hell!

It's hard to say. I think his best music is definitely as a solo artist, but without dc Talk, the CCM mainstream would not have embraced hip-hop. I picked up the DC Talk album after hearing "Heavenbound" on Real Videos when I was in my freshman year of college. They started out opening for DeGarmo & Key and Michael W. Smith and later became a headliner. Without dc Talk, there would be no tobymac, Tait, and Kevin Max.

As a solo artist, he's teamed up with Kirk Franklin, launched Diverse City, and become a figure head in mending racial and musical barriers.
