things that work best in homeschooling

Hey everyone! I was wondering what are some of the things that work best in your homeschooling experiance. If you are a student, what things do you like that your parents have done. If you are the parent, what things have worked the best. You can also say what things that don't work.
For us, if we try to overschedule extra activities and field trips at the expense of schooling, no one is happy! We switched to Bob Jones english this year, which the kids love.

For me Being able to watch The history channel and being able to learn about history things. Being home with my family is another thing that works best for me!

The best thing for us is that we are able to incorperate our faith into the lessons. Other schools took God out of school and we are putting Him back. The Apologia Science is great for that. Also, my little one is picking up on so many things and is advanced for her age. The positives out weigh the negatives.
