I read a lot of Chrisitan books. I am reading one now by Chuck Swindoll about living above mediocrity. He talks about living the life of an eagle. Soaring high, going to new heights. Slaying the dragon of traditionalism. Going against the flow. Swimming upstream. You get the picture. If you are not an eagle, he says, then you are a parrot, doing what others are doing, speaking what others are saying... I believe God wants us all to live as eagles. To try him and see. God is true to his word. He has never failed, never lied, or given us anything in our lives that he has not permitted to happen so that he can be glorified through it. My desire is to be an eagle. For a long time I have been a parrot. I am trying, with God's help, to lift up and soar like an eagle. I believe he wants his children to soar high above mediocrity.
I have an 8 year old parrot, Louie. He is a green-cheek conure. Adorable, but he will never be an eagle. For him, that's ok. I bought him as a parrot and a parrot he will forever be.
Fly, and be taken up on wings as eagles. God will lift you higher.

Eric

I agree with that. I think that most of us are parrots when we could be eagles but i think that maybe we are scared to take the next step and become an eagle because it is so much easier to be a parrot.

Mandi, I totally agree with you. I have been scared of being an eagle and sometimes I am in situations where I still am. All I can say is that the days are getting shorter and our time on this earth is closing in on us. I believe I will see the coming of Jesus in my lifetime. Yes, it is easier to be like everyone else and be a parrot but God wants us to be eagles, I believe. Fear doesn't come from God. I think it comes down to taking a stand for Christ and flying against the wind.
