Hey everybody. I like to write lots of fiction, and I constantly come up with story ideas (and usually don't end up finishing the stories). But one day, I asked myself, is it okay to take the Lord's name in vain, and/or swear in the story? Because technically it would be coming through you, but... I don't know. Any thoughts?

Okay, but what if it's getting a point across in your story?
And the swearing bit too, you guys only commented on the Lords names. Is swearing okay (every once and a while). Like, some Christians even debate that it's okay, depending on the context in which you use it, so yeah. Keep the answers coming, please.

You tell me:

34 "But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35 "nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 "Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 "But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
Matt 5:34-37 (NKJV)

Also I am a writer as well as a musician and teacher of the bible, and in the current novel I am writing, there are many opportunities to swear, but I choose not to, because if I did then that would not be pleasing to the Lord.
Even in the bible there is no swearing, yet it is the most exciting book I have ever read!
