What do you think is right? Can a Christian Listen to Worldly music and listen to Christian Music?

In my opinion, if you were brought up in the Lord you can listen to anything. I listen to bands like The Maine, The Cab, Cute Is What we Aim For, Mansions, Sparks The Rescue. They are worldly bands that sometimes curse in their songs and such.

If you were brought up in the Lord, you should know right from wrong. The music and beats are amazing and I believe there is nothing wrong in listening to secular music just as long as it doesn't tell you to go kill people, do everything in your path, get money, drugs, etc.

What's your opinion?

I agree with you! I don't like when pastors come in and preach that you should only listen to "christian" music. What labels it "christian"?

I know a lot of tooth and nail artists and personally met some. Some don't live a Christian life yet people categories the label as a "christian" label.

I think it's because of their artist's lyrics. So there is no problem in listening to other types of music other than "christian" just as long as mentioned before it doesn't say kill her, him, do this, drugs, sex, etc.

I am a Christian and I am a Country and Christian and Soft Rock Music Guy. So yes, you can listen to all different kinds of music as long as you stay focused on The Lord.

I love all kinds of music, but for me I listen about 95% of the time to Christian music, I do so because I love to sing to my Lord Jesus and it lifts me up when I am down.
For secular (Wordly music) sure you have to stay away from, kill him or her, drugs, sex etc.. but you also mentioned that they cuss sometimes. Why would you want to allow this to penetrate your heart and mind? We are to be in the world but not of the world, meaning we don't accept the things of the world into our lives, no matter how small they may be. God says to be holy because HE is Holy. Didn't Jesus die for those who curse or cuss? If He did, I don't want to listen to ANYTHING that promotes what Jesus died for.
Seperate yourself from the world and allow others to see the light of Jesus in your life, and in the music you listen too.
If you're unsure, ask the Lord if that song or group or person is ok to listen too, and if He says no, then be obedient to Him.

True, but you can choose what you listen to, either songs that will build you up spiritually, or tear you down.

eh. songs not of God don't tear you down. you choose to be torn down, you are weak if you're torn down.

I believe, you can still listen to songs not made for God. there is a lot of good talent out there and i think it's just wrong to isolate ourselves into one genre.

Things then become, i only listen to "CHRISTIAN" music. im going to a "CHRISTIAN" cafe. im going to a "CHRISTIAN" concert. You know, toby mac stated "MY MUSIC IS NOT CHRISTIAN. Its music of love and I do love God with all my heart but most of my songs are about love and being together in unity with people, learning to love people, my main influence is BOB MARLEY because he wasn't afraid to attack and stand up for social rights". I did an interview with Toby a while back.

He has a wordly influence and states my MUSIC is not christian. It's mainly because people now treat it as a biz.
